描述微观粒子散射概率的一种物理量。又称碰撞截面，简称截面。一种运动中的粒子碰撞另一种静止粒子时，如果在单位时间内通过垂直于运动方向单位面积上的运动粒子数为1，静止粒子数也是1，则单位时间发生碰撞的概率称为碰撞截面，截面的量纲与面积的量纲相同，单位是靶恩，1靶恩＝10-28米2，可见与核反应截面的含义相同。如果碰撞为弹性散射，相应的截面称为弹性截面，如果碰撞为非弹性散射，相应的截面称为非弹性截面。根据粒子散射截面的分析可获得许多有关粒子的信息。
