Gelifand，IzrailiMoiseevich

苏联数学家，生物学家。1913年9月2日生于红奥克内。1930年中学未毕业时迁居莫斯科，以后自修数学。1932年19岁时，进入莫斯科大学攻读研究生课程，于1935年获副博士学位，1940年获物理学数学科学博士学位。1943年起任莫斯科大学教授，后兼任该大学生物数学研究所所长，1953年当选为苏联科学院陆军通讯院士，1978年获得沃尔夫奖。
盖尔范德建立了赋范环论，即交换巴拿赫代数论。他运用代数方法，引进极大理想子环空间，给出元素在其上的表示（盖尔范德表示）的概念，将线性算子谱论等学科研究引向深入。他与M.A.奈玛克合作，于1943年开创了C*代数的研究。此外，他在酉表示理论及广义函数论方面都有建树。
